Services for Oscar ?Elwyn? Carroll, 91 , will be held at 7:00PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harold Thomaston and the Rev. Johnny Cooper will officiate and interment will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV. Mr. Carroll passed away on Sunday, June 12 at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, Georgia. Mr. Carroll was born in 1913, the son of Joseph and Maydell Carroll in Lanark, WV. A former resident of Leslie and Layland, WV, he was a member of the United Mine Workers Union and retired from The New River and Pocahontas Coal Company. He and his family made their home in Grafton, Ohio after retiring from the mines. He had lived in Thomasville, Georgia for the last 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Margaret Carroll, a son-in-law, Terry Helmick of Elyria, Ohio and sisters, Lucille Farren and Elsie Lawhorn. He is survived by his children, Tom and Georganna Carroll, Thomasville, Georgia, Jim and Pattee Carroll, Phenix City, Alabama, Janet Carroll Helmick of Thomasville, Georgia, Joe and Stacy Carroll, Columbus, Ohio and Mark and Melissa Carroll, Gaffney, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeremy Carroll and Michelle Carroll, Columbis, Ohio, Justin, Miranda, Matthew, Bethany and Benjamin Carroll, Gaffney, SC, Tracy Helmick, Elyria, Ohio, Jennie Tindall and her husband, Matt, of Valdosta, Georgia. Three sisters also survive him, Louise Walker, Rupert, WV, Frances Dotson, North Ridgeville, Ohio and Thelma Duncan, Bel Air, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Avenue, Thomasville, Ga 31792 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN. 37214.
