Graveside services for Palmer Linwood Smith, Sr. will be held on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Milford Stanley will officiate the service. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Benjamin Smith and Pearl Palmer Smith. He was born on February 9th, 1926 in Patten, GA. Palmer was married to his wife Betty Odom of Boston for 67 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, he joined his family farm and later became the director of Holly Hill Plantation. Mr. Smith was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and working on anything mechanical. He is survived by his wife Betty Smith of Metcalfe, GA; children, Pamela Torborg (John) of Clintonville, WI, Benjamin I. Smith (Regina) of Monticello, FL, Palmer Linwood Smith, Jr. (David Ebbetts) of High Point, N.C., Patti S. Benton of Metcalfe, GA; grandchildren, Bo Taylor (Jessica), Jackie Odom (Brian), Jessica Key (Justin), Jeanna Harmon (Adam), Jamie Benton; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
