Funeral services for Pamela Thomaston Mitchum, 42, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007, at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner, the Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer and Ms. Barbara Curnutt will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mitchum died August 5. Born September 28, 1964, in Auburn, Ala., she was the daughter of Harold and Joyce Brooks Thomaston, of Thomasville, who survive. On May 14, 1994, in Thomasville, she married Timothy S. Mitchum, who survives. She was an active member of the Georgia Women?s Missionary Union, where she served as the Divisional Vice President and was also on numerous state committees, Thomas County Women?s missionary Union, where she served as Assistant Director; First Baptist Church Women?s Missionary Union where she served as Assistant Director and Camp Pinnacle Endowment Coordinator. She was an active member of Georgia Baptist Nursing Fellowship. She received her BS degree in nursing from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. During her nursing career, she worked in Cardiac Care, Intensive Care and at Urgent Care at Archbold Hospital. She also worked as Director of Nursing at Camellia Gardens of Lifecare and in Performance Improvement and Infection Control at Southwestern State Hospital. She was very proud of her heritage as a missionary kid. Other survivors include sons, Michael Mitchum, Thomas Mitchum and Will Mitchum; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Marguerite Mitchum of Anderson, S.C.; brother-in-law, Alvin Mitchum of Washington, D.C.; uncles and aunts, William & Georgia Langley, Jack & JoAnn Brooks, Jewell Barksdale all of Sylvester, David & Jeanette Brooks, Charles & Joan Brooks, all of Tifton, Cleston & Linda Brooks, Berry Brooks, Terry & Cheryle Brooks all of Sylvester, Joe & Jean Thomaston, of Perry, GA and numerous cousins. Grandparents, Lonnie & Lee Brooks, Burma & Inez Thomaston preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to World Hunger and Camp Pinnacle c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2790, Thomasville, GA. 31799. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com .
