Patricia Gainey

Services for Patricia Gainey, 93, of Thomasville will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. Gainey passed away December 30, 2018. She was born June 11, 1925 to Jesse Gainey and Leah Sipple, who preceded her in death. Patricia Gainey attended public schools in Thomasville and graduated high school in June 1943. She then attended college at Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, which was her mother’s alma mater. She later finished college at Georgia State Women’s College, now known as Valdosta State University. She worked for a book publisher in Atlanta and later worked for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) for 30 years. After retirement, she traveled, read non-fiction books, enjoyed camping, fishing, and some writing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday school and church activities. She was interested in politics and currents events and was a member of the Moultrie chapter of the Georgia Conservancy and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy #383. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Gainey and her sister, Ann Gainey.
