Patricia Scarborough Glenn, 86, passed away May 20 at home of natural causes. Pat was the only child of Hiram Knox and Laura Frances Martin Scarborough, who predeceased her. She graduated from Elberton High School in 1958 and earned a bachelor's degree in business from Emory University in 1962. She met her future husband, John Lawrence Glenn, Jr. at Emory and they were married in June of 1961. They were married for 60 years until John's death in 2021.
Upon graduation from Emory, she worked in the investment department of the First National Bank of Atlanta, before the arrival of their daughter, Laura, in 1963 and son Lawrence in 1966. John's career in banking led to their moving to Charlotte, NC, from there to Orlando, FL, then to Fort Lauderdale, FL, and eventually retiring to Thomasville in 1992. Pat had always been interested in listing and selling real estate, having received her license when in Charlotte. She joined First Thomasville Realty in 1996 until her retirement in December of 2016. She served as President of the Board of Realtors, was a Realtor of the Year and enjoyed taking advantage of the continuing education offered by the Georgia Association of Realtors. Real estate provided her the opportunity to learn about Thomasville and Thomas County and to make new friends.
As a member of All Saints Episcopal church she sang in the choir, was president of the Episcopal Church Women and served on the Vestry. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Thomasville YMCA, the board of Thomasville Landmarks and on the board of the Historic Preservation Commission. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf, was president of the Women's Golf Association and was lucky enough to win one of the Women's Golf Championship tournaments. She and John enjoyed traveling to many banking conventions during his career, to locales including Hawaii, California and Bermuda, and they took great pleasure in several ocean and river cruises in Europe following his retirement. Pat is survived by her daughter, Laura Patricia Glenn, and partner Stephanie Schwartz, and son, John Lawrence Glenn, III, and wife Dani Glenn, grandchildren John Lawrence Glenn, IV, Darby Scarborough Glenn, Jensen Leigh Glenn, and Kelli Smith and many Glenn nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins, which she was proud to claim as her own. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Thomasville, GA on a date to be determinded. Her ashes will be interred next to John's in the All Saints Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church or to an organization of your choice.
Family and friends are invited to visit her online tribute page at www.allenfh.com.
