Paul was the 1st born child to his parents Roland and Naomi Burklow (deceased) in Dixon, KY. He had two siblings James Donald Burklow and Sue Burklow Denton (deceased).
He graduated from Dixon High School where he played basketball and played in the band. Paul was very popular at school, and everyone knew that you didn’t mess with his younger brother or sister.
Paul left Dixon and joined the United States Air Force. He became an avionics maintenance professional and while stationed at Turner Field in Albany, Georgia he met his future wife Hopesy Iris Harvey (deceased) one evening in Moultrie, Georgia. Hopesy was from Coolidge, Georgia and her dad, Roscoe Harvey and her mom, Geneva Ellington Harvey (deceased) were tobacco farmers. After Paul and Hopesy were married in Spence Field they enjoyed a honeymoon in Panama City Beach, Florida.
While in the USAF Paul and Hopesy had three children Karen Beth Burklow Murray, Kerry Harvey Burklow, and Kristi Iris Burklow Williams. Karen is married to David Murray, Kerry is married to Patricia Ann Rasmussen Burklow and Kristi is married to Henry Williams.
Paul retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the USAF after 21 years. He held multiple positions of leadership in the USAF and received the Bronze Star in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the USAF he worked at Ponder’s Office Supply in Thomasville for over 20 years where he was the store and inventory manager.
Pop was a dedicated family man and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also loved to dance and sing. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He also liked NASCAR and loved to go to a race. He always liked to spend quality time with family. Paul also was dedicated to the local community and was a volunteer at the Thomas County Food Bank.
He was really proud of his grandchildren James Paul Williams, his wife Beverly Williams, Robbie Mathew Burklow (deceased), David Lee Murray as well as his great-grandchildren Jurnee May Williams and Diesel Williams.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 15th at 10 am with military honors at Westview in Moultrie.
