Paul Robert Carpenter Jr., a beloved husband, father, and esteemed radiologist, passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on July 12, 1944, in Ravenna, Ohio, Paul was the son of the late Paul Robert Carpenter and Margaret Wiley Carpenter. He married his devoted wife, Penelope (Penny) Carpenter, on March 14, 1970. Together, they celebrated over 55 years of marriage, filled with love and shared adventures.
Paul pursued his education diligently, attending Kent State University from 1962 to 1964 before advancing to Ohio State Medical School from 1964 to 1968. After completing his residency in Radiology at the University of California- San Francisco, he later became a Certified Neuroradiologist in 2002. His professional journey included serving at Akron City Hospital from 1975 to 1981 and a rewarding 20-year tenure at Archbold, where he made significant contributions to the field of radiology until his retirement in 2012. Prior to his medical career, Paul served honorably in the Submarine Service as a physician and trained as a diving officer.
He was a dedicated member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a passionate car enthusiast, racing with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) for 20 years. His love of the outdoors manifested in skiing, hiking, and cycling, while his passion for photography captured countless cherished moments with his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife Penny Carpenter, children Dawn Carpenter Michel, Dana Carpenter, and Graham Carpenter, 7 grandchildren, and sisters Suzanne Compton and Peggi Goetti.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Robert Carpenter and Margaret Wiley Carpenter.
A service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 5:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church with Father Will Brown officiating.
