Paul Charles Desaulniers, 73, of Thomasville, GA passed peacefully at home on the afternoon of May 12, 2020, in the presence of his wife, after a spirited battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. Paul was born in New York City on December 14, 1946 to Robert Guillaume Desaulniers and Amy Frank Desaulniers. He was a graduate of Irvington High School and SUNY New Paltz, where he earned a Bachelor of Education. He later received a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. Paul loved teaching, gardening, cooking, and most of all, spending time with family. He will be dearly and profoundly missed by his wife of twenty-six years, Laurel Desaulniers; his son Paul-Leon Desaulniers (Erica) and grandson Soren of Chicago, IL; his son Tomis (Lesa) Desaulniers of Saint Stephens, AL; his sister, Alice (Dominique) Desaulniers Picon of Westchester, NY; his niece, Edwina Picon of Vancouver, and nephew, Christian Picon of Montreal; his mother-in-law, Marion Nelsen of Perry, FL; and a large extended family across the United States. His memory is a blessing. The Desaulniers family would like to offer a special thanks to Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute, Dr. Michael Gee of Archbold Medical Center, Southwest Georgia Hospice, and a number of friends, neighbors, and family for their support over the years. Due to the current circumstances of social distancing, a memorial service will be postponed until a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Southwest Georgia Hospice.
