Funeral services for Pauline McCorkle, 89, of Thomasville, GA, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. The Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate with opening remarks by Rev. Brandon Smith. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Ms. McCorkle passed away peacefully at her home in Thomasville, GA, on May 6, 2026.
Active Pallbearers will be Mark Herring, Ethan Herring, Matthew Herring, Carson Glass, Jamie McCorkle, and Nick McCorkle.
Ms. McCorkle was born on March 18, 1937, in Cairo, GA, to the late I.B. and Mary Page. On August 27, 1960, she married the love of her life, Patrick "Pat" McCorkle. They shared a loving marriage for 57 years until his death on September 8, 2017. Ms. McCorkle was a graduate of Cairo High School and Berry College. She retired from the Grady County Board of Education after 27 years of devoted service, where she was adored by the many students whom she enjoyed teaching.
Pauline was an active member of Pine Park Baptist Church, where she served the church in many areas, including providing beautiful decorations for the church fellowship hall, assisting with benevolence arrangements, and assisting with landscaping. Her favorite time spent in service to her church was when she was teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved inspiring young people to love the Lord and live a Godly life. Outside of church, Pauline loved spending time in her yard where she maintained a beautifully landscaped yard. She also enjoyed time spent with her sisters, shopping, gardening, and crafting. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Hancock (Steve) of Thomasville, GA. A grandson, Chase Hancock of Thomasville. Two sisters, Irene Crawford of Plains, GA and Montine Herring of Calvary, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Hunter Hancock, nephew, Stacey Crawford, and brothers-in-law, Raiford Crawford and Bill Herring.
Memorials may be made in memory of Ms. McCorkle to the Building Fund at Pine Park Baptist Church, 3783 Pine Park Rd. Cairo, GA 39828 or to Affinity Hospice, 2012 E Pinetree Blvd Suite A Thomasville, GA 31792.
