Maudell (Penny) Wheaton passed away on Friday April 14, 2017 at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born on May 14, 1927 in Lakeland, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Major James Young and Ida Lee Baker. Mrs. Wheaton was an avid bowler throughout her life and she won many local, state, and team tournaments. She enjoyed being in leagues and on teams and made numerous friends through the years. She most enjoyed being on teams with her husband who she bowled with for their entire marriage. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Jefferson H. Wheaton of Thomasville. Other survivors include her daughter Karen Lynn Colindres of LaPorte, Tx and step-daughter Doreen Caton of Kansas; step-son Dewayne Wheaton from Acworth, Ga; grandchildren Wayne (J.J.) Gerrish, Shauna Gerrish, Brian Gerrish, Lauren Bentley, Lindsey Doss; several great grandchildren; and niece Gladys (Teet) Dees. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday April 18, 2017 from 2:00-4:00PM. Her graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday April 20, 2017 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Fl. Guest may sign the online register book at
