Graveside services for Peter W. Hjort, Sr. 83, of Thomasville, are at 1:00, Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on 13th St. The Rev. W. R. Cleveland will officiate. Mr. Hjort died Dec 10 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born Feb. 16, 1925, in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Sam C., Sr. and Nell Powell Hjort. His first wife, Ted Ray Hjort, born May 17, 1921 and died June 11, 1967, was the mother of their two children. On February 19, 1975, in Thomasville, he married Era Lee Knowles Hjort, who preceded him in death on July 25, 2005. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was the retired owner of S.A.S. Survivors include son, Peter W. Hjort, Jr.; daughter, Anne R. Hjort of Perry; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Sam C. Hjort, Jr. of Washington State. and A. Paul Hjort of Thomasville.
