Phillip Walter Chastain of Thomasville, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 11 at Archbold Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and close friends. Phillip was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on December 17, 1953, the youngest child of the late Oscar Howard Chastain and Mary Bordeaux Chastain. He attended Thomasville High School and then Gordon Military College.
Phillip was a talented painting contractor and was passionate about his trade. He loved to fish and enjoyed beach trips. One of his favorite things to do was cook for his family, and he was a master at it. Phillip was a good man with a kind soul. He loved his family and friends, as well as his pets, who he regarded as his kids. He was the most caring dad and Pops, and will definitely be missed.
Phillip is survived by his daughter Melissa Stringer (Meven) and her children Ray and Lang of Thomasville, Georgia; his son Phillip Chastain Jr. (Erin) and his children Scarlett, Camille, and John of Monticello, Florida; and numerous nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters Suzanne Ulmer and Lyndell Mercer, and his two brothers Johnny Chastain and Steve Chastain.
His kids would like to give a special thank you to his primary care physician, Dr. Martha Ward, and his oncologist Dr. Chisom Onuoha. He thought so highly of them, and we will forever be grateful for their kind and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, 425 Covington Avenue, Thomasville, Georgia, 31792.
The family will receive family and friends at Allen and Allen Funeral Home, Monday, September 18, 2023 from 5-7 PM.
