Funeral services for Preston Lee Cooper, 83, of Ochlocknee will be Monday, October 28 at 11:00 AM at the Ochlocknee United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Richard Wilson will officiate, with interment in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Mr. Cooper died on Friday at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The son of Perry Oliver and Jessie Lee White Cooper, Mr. Cooper was born on September 4, 1919 in Thomas County. He was married to Lena Hayes Cooper on October 5, 1952, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Mr. Cooper was a farmer and was also retired from Woolworth. He was a member of the Ochlocknee American Legion Post 265. He also served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp. Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Karen Cooper of Ochlocknee and a daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Randy Ellis, of Valdosta. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren: Whitney Ellis, Brent Ellis, and Leigh Ellis and 3 step-grandchildren: Lacey Miner, Michael Hamm, and Jennifer Hamm; 2 sister-in-laws, Lois B. Cooper of Ochlocknee and Norene Cooper of Port St. Joe, Fl. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Floyd Cooper and Ivey Cooper. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ochlocknee United Methodist Church, 3075 N. Railroad St., Ochlocknee, Ga 31773.
