Raiford Long

Services for Edward Raiford Long, 81 of Ochlocknee will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Ochlocknee Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate and interment will follow in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of American Legion Post 265. Mr. Long passed away January 27, 2015 at Archbold Hospital. Born October 3, 1933 in Ochlocknee, he was the son of the late Hollie Long and Louise Barnes Long. Mr. Long graduated from Ochlocknee High School and was a member of Ochlocknee Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 265, Ochlocknee; Community Civic Club; Boy Scouts Executive Committee; supported the Georgia Sheriffs' Boys' Ranch; was past Mayor of Ochlocknee and currently Mayor Pro Tem of Ochlocknee. He was past commander of American Legion Post 265 and past coordinator of the St. Jude Walk for 6 years. He is survived by his spouse of 34 years, Carolyn Bertsch; daughters, Kathy Boyett (Bill) and Kim Pearce (Ray); grandchildren, Kasey Durr (Mathew), Kelly Garland (Wesley), Allan Boyett (Becky), Lena Boyett, Bella Boyett and Rosie Reynolds; step-children, Tim Bertsch (Melanie), Tony Bertsch, Tracy Bertsch and Teresa Cooley(Doug); step-grandchildren, Lauren Cooley, Nathaniel Cooley, Caleb Bertsch (Ally), Brittni Pannell (Gerald), Sam Ayers and David Ayers; sisters, Mary Agnes Dukes and Susan Wyrick (Bob); brother, Robert Long; mother of his children, Sarah Warren and several step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sister, Betty Long; brothers-in-law, Lamar Dukes and Jerry Hurst. Donations may be made to Ochlocknee Baptist Church, P.O.
