Ralph M. Krier
Chicago native and long-time Skokie resident, Ralph M. Krier, 86, made his transition peacefully at home on February 1, 2010 in Thomasville, Ga. Born February 8, 1923 to the late Valentine and Helen Schneider Krier, Ralph grew up in Niles Center now Skokie, was a graduate of Niles East High School, and served in the army during World War II as an ammunitions driver in India. He was a linotype operator at a number of Chicago-area printing companies, including Standard Rate & Data Service, until he retired in 1988. He moved to Thomasville in 1989 with his wife of 52 years, Dolores Gross, and was an active community volunteer for many years. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Dolores; his four daughters and son-in-law Mary Krier, Elizabeth and Curt Matlin, Jane Krier, and Jean Krier; his sisters and brother-in-law Lorraine Mocella, Mary Ann Lindelof, and Carol and Tom Klein; many nieces and nephews; good friend Nancy Tillinghast; and many others. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Krier. At his request, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, GA 31792 or to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
