Reece Goff Turrentine

Reece Goff Turrentine died on December 21, 2013 in Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor “Onie” Inman Turrentine, their children Michael Turrentine and Linda Turrentine and many beloved nieces and nephews. Reece was born February 24, 1929 in Tarboro, NC. As a boy he moved to Thomasville and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1947. He was called into ministry while a member of the Thomasville First United Methodist Church. After graduating from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1954, he was ordained as a member of the South Georgia United Methodist Church Conference and served in Hahira, Cuthbert, Fort Valley and Macon. He transferred his membership to The North Georgia UMC Conference and retired from Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in 1995. Reece was an outstanding person in every phase of his life. He had much to offer and served 41 years in ministry as preacher, pastor, teacher and counselor. He was a family man who was also a canoeist and writer, a motorcyclist, a painter, a pianist and golfer. A memorial service was held on January 8th at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA. A service of interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, GA of February 6th at 2PM. Guest may sign the online register at www.allenfh.com .
