Memorial services for Remer Everett Cone, 80, of Glenville, N.C., are at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at the Pavilion at Bald Rock in N.C. Mr. Cone died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 28 near his home in Glenville, N.C. Born in Coolidge, he was the son of the late Joe Tom Cone and Lou Ella Smith Cone. Remer has been a full time resident of the Laurel Falls community since 1995. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bergen Brunswig Drug Company, a wholesale Pharmaceutical company in 1995 after 47 years of loyal service. Survivors include wife, Frances Woods Cone; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Tina Cone of Glenville, N.C. and Glenn and Kathy Cone also of Glenville, N.C.; sister, Lois Cone Favor of Coolidge; nephews, C.T. Givens, Jr. and Donald J. Givens; niece, Lynette Ferguson; great-niece, LaRae Chasteen; great-great niece, Savannah Chasteen, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his beloved dog, Alex. In lieu of flowers equal donations to the Cashiers Glenville Fire Department and the Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad would be appreciated. Arrangements are being handled by Moody Funeral Home, 714 West Main Street, Sylva, N.C.
