Graveside services for Renee Cone Hanson will be held Monday, April 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Cremation Gardens. Renee passed on April 6, 2021. Born to the late Heyward Cone and the late Mary Alice Lancaster on December 29, 1962, in Thomasville, she was married to Charles Hanson of Sutherland, Virginia.
Renee and Charles are members of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Rose Hill, NC and she made our home in Wallace, NC. Renee attended Southwest Missouri State University and went on to graduate from University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was known "to spin a tale" and was always eager to hear stories from the family elders to include the younger generations that loved them. She cherished her family and friendships. Renee had a knack for getting total strangers to tell her their moments and memories. She was a southern girl and brought red clay spirit with her wherever she ventured.
Survivors include her nieces Candice Smith (Kevin), Catherine Clarke Crawford (Tyler), nephew Robert Leisy III and, preceded in death nephew, Charles Hunter Leisy; great nieces Allie Kate Smith, Riley Smith and Eloise Leisy; great nephews Dillion Gregory Smith, Jacob Smith, Jared Smith and Hunter Leisy; sisters-in-law Kathy Hunter and Ruth Leisy and, preceded in death by her beloved brother, Greg Cone; mother-in-law Eufrosina Hanson and late father-in-law Carrol Dean Hanson; Aunts Janie Cone, Linda Cone, Sue Cone and Sheila Vicars; Aunts and Uncles Dot & Lavon Cone and Wanda & Clarence Reichert; and her many loving cousins.
