Reva Pierce, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully at home after visiting with her sisters and children on October 16, 2026, at the age of 73. Reva was born on October 19, 1952, in Elba, Alabama, to the late Hubert Wayne and Dorothy Galimore Ennis.
Reva's kindness, patience, and warmth drew her to a life of caregiving and teaching. After moving from Houston, Texas, to Thomasville, Georgia, in 2004, Reva graduated from Thomas University with a bachelor's degree in education and worked as a teacher at Thomas County Middle School. She retired from teaching 5th grade inclusion in 2016, when her Parkinson's did not allow her to continue.
In 2012, Reva married Jeffrey Schardt. She is survived by her loving husband and her children: Lindsey Wyatt (Ron) of New Caney, Texas, Bryan Pierce of Fulshear, Texas, and Laura of Thomasville. Reva was also a proud grandmother to Ella, Ryleigh, Jace, and Wyatt. She is survived by her sisters, Resa Miller of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Renee Hall (Jeff) of Mason, Ohio.
Besides working with young people, Reva's passions included walking on the beach and collecting seashells, screening for gemstones in the North Carolina mountains, and traveling to new destinations. She had a passion for classic black-and-white movies and treasured the time spent with her family. Although her mobility diminished, Reva and her husband Jeff enjoyed many journeys from the beaches and forests in the East to the Great Lakes, Canadian Rockies, and the Southwest canyons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation to honor Reva's daughter, Laura (https://www.rettsyndrome.org/get-involved/donate/#donate-now). Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Pine Level Cemetery in Elba, Alabama, at 11 am Central Time (12 pm Eastern Time).
Reva Jo Pierce will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit, love, and dedication to her family, students, and friends will forever remain in our hearts.
