Services for Richard Erwin Funderburk of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Philip Adams, Greg Hegwood, Ben Hegwood, Edwin Hines, Bobby Goff and Jim Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are B. J. Grovenstein, Albert Johnson, Harris Adams, Larry Funderburke, Walter Aldridge, Carl Edwards and Willie Coston. Mr. Funderburk died peacefully with family present on Mar. 13 at his home. Born October 8, 1928 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Frank and Addie Richardson Funderburk. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Sloan Funderburk. Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Frank Eugene and Ginger Funderburk of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jacob Paul Funderburk, Emma Riley Funderburk; sister-in-law, June Hegwood; nephews, Ben and Montiea Hegwood, Greg and Miriam Hegwood all of Moultrie, John and Tonia Granger of Tallahassee, FL and other nieces and nephews. In 1952, he graduated from Middle Georgia Junior College and Southern Technical Institute. Mr. Funderburk was a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville. For 35 years, he owned and operated Funderburk?s Seed Cleaners and Dryers, until his retirement in 1987. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
