Richard Donald O'Neal, age 92, died peacefully at his home on January 6, 2026, after a long life marked by devotion to family, quiet service to others, and steadfast integrity.

Born in Switzerland County Indiana, Richard spent his early years in Indiana and Ohio. He built a long and successful career with Cummins Engine Company, where he served as an executive. In 1978, he and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. In 1998, Richard and his wife relocated to Thomasville to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren and to enjoy a slower pace of life.

Richard proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. He was a radar technician aboard a submarine and was stationed in Okinawa, an experience he regarded with quiet pride.

A reserved and thoughtful man, Richard expressed his love through actions rather than words. He was deeply devoted to his family, always willing to help his neighbors, and found simple joy in fishing. He was a faithful member of Dawson Street Baptist Church. Until his death, he lived independently with his beloved wife, a testament to his resilience and strength.

Richard was married to Janet O'Neal for 64 years, a partnership marked by loyalty, respect, and enduring love. He is survived by his wife Janet; his two children, Ryan Patrick O'Neal of Cordele, Georgia, and Dawn O'Neal Muller, married to Bruce Muller of Thomasville, Georgia; his sister, Shirley Roseberry; and his cherished grandchildren, Jason Muller of Atlanta, married to Charlotte, and Alex Muller of Thomasville, married to Jessica. He was especially delighted to know his four great-grandchildren: Emmy Muller, Lucy Muller, Merritt Muller, and Everett Muller, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.

The family will hold a private service. They appreciate your prayers and warm thoughts during this time. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to Georgia Hospice.

Richard will be remembered as a gentle, dependable presence-a man who valued family, service, and kindness, and whose steady example left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
