Funeral services for Richard "Ricky" Randall Smith, 69 of Pavo will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at New Shiloh Baptist Church. Pastor Terry Hurst will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Ricky passed away December 19, 2022 in Abbeville, Alabama with his family by his side. Born September 12, 1953 in Pavo, he was the son of the late Richard Russell Smith and Frances Anita Strickland Smith. He was married to Allyson Smith, who survives. He was a long time member of Kennedy Chapel Church and attended New Shiloh Baptist Church. He loved watching old westerns, NASCAR, Georgia Bulldog Football, listening to bluegrass music and southern gospel music. He was a member of Southern Harmony gospel group as their bass singer. He served as a county commissioner for Thomas County for 14 years and spent his life doing what he loved, farming, until his retirement 2 years ago. Other survivors include his children, Jason Smith (Kelsey) of Thomasville, Randi Sellers (Joshua) of Thomasville; Ashley Dieckmann (David) of Pavo, Branden Prosser (Jordan) of Thomasville, Cole Prosser (Marissa) of Thomasville and Alan Owens (Lynn) of Pavo; grandchildren, Hannah Odom, Katelyn Sellers, Ty Smith, Ella Grace Smith, Ali Sellers, Grayson Dieckmann, Clay Smith, Gavin Parrish, Kyleigh Parrish, Emerson Smith, Wrenlee Smith, Zac Owens, Samuel Prosser, Riker Prosser and Melissa Metcalf; sister, Margie Simmons (Jeff) of Pavo and brother, Jody Smith (Amy) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
