Richard Edward Starnes, age 71, of Albany, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Haney Starnes.

Born in Lancaster, South Carolina, Richard was the son of the late James I. Starnes Sr. and Margaret Rollins Starnes. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends throughout his life.

Richard worked as a carpenter for many years, a trade he took great pride in. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and creating things with his hands, talents that reflected both his craftsmanship and creativity. He especially treasured spending time with his grandchildren and watching Friday Night Wrestling, simple pleasures that brought him great joy over the years.

Richard is survived by his son, Howard Nobles; his stepchildren, Theresa Hampton-Woods, Gena Norris, Dixie Ramagoz (Billy), and James Hampton; his grandchildren, Nicole Hampton, Chrisey Hatcher, Courtney (Brett) Hanright, Breanna Woods, and Kinch Gilmore; and his great-grandchildren, Arliss and Lettie Hanright, and Samantha and Kimberly Parrish. He is also survived by his brothers, Brice Starnes (Rose), Ray Starnes (Becky), Jackie Starnes (Cathy), Donald Starnes (Kay), and Wayne Starnes (Yong); his sisters, Betty Laney, Peggy Flowers (Mike), and Linda McManus (Dennis); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory forever.

Richard's presence, wisdom, and caring spirit touched the lives of many. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A private memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville, Georgia, on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m for the family.
