Graveside services for Richard Tyman "Dick" Barnes of Thomasville will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:00AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Betty Lou Miller will officiate. Mr. Barnes passed away peacefully at his residence Friday October 12 surrounded by his loved ones. The son of the late Earvin William Barnes and Ruby Collins Cuno, he was born February 25, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Barnes retired from the United States Air Force in 1979 as a Master Sgt after serving 24 years in the service of his country. He was a member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church. On August 30, 1958 in Thomasville, he married Linda Conradi Barnes, who survives. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law Karla and Don Smith, daughter, Leslie Barnes, son and daughter-in-law, Richard Ricky & Libbianne Barnes, and daughter and son-in-law Angela and Ronnie Odom all of Thomasville. Grandchildren, Brandi Addison and husband Nick of Trenton, SC, Linda Howington and husband Justin of Levittown, PA, a grandson Airman 1C Richard T. Ty Barnes III serving with the USAF in Alaska. Other grandchildren include Kirsten Freeman, Cameron & Logan Lindsey, Keifer, Shiloh, Aspen and Chesney Barnes all of Thomasville. Five great grandchildren include Dakota Lindsey, Christopher and Daelan Addison of Trenton, SC, Neveah and Hunter Gage Howington of Levittown, PA, and his special grand dog Chunky Monkey Barnes-Odom. Mr. Barnes also leaves a host of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
