Graveside services for Robert Cumming Wilson, Jr. will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 10, 2005 on Carolina Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Golden, Pat Fenlon, Oscar Mims, John Wight, Cliff Campbell, Huddie Cheney, Roy Lilly and Jack Rosch.Mr. Wilson died on September 7, 2005 at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Athens, Georgia on June 16th, 1918, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert C. Wilson. He graduated from Athens High School in 1935 and the University of Georgia in 1940 with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. In 1941, he married Gladys Johnston who preceded him in death in 2002. He served in the US Army Medical Corp from 1943-1946 as a pharmacist in Field General Hospital in New Guinea and the Philippines. In 1948, he moved to Thomasville where he was a professional medical representative for Abbott Laboratories. He earned recognition regionally and nationally for sales performance before he retired in 1986.Mr. Wilson was an active member and served on the administrative board for the First United Methodist Church. He was a past board member and president of Glen Arven Country Club, a member of Thomasville Landmarks, the Thomas County Historical Society, the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation, the Thomasville Cultural Center and the President?s Club of the University of Georgia Foundation. He also served as a Trustee for Thomas University for 10 years.Survivors include sons and daughters in law Robert C. and Barbara Wilson, Columbus, Ga., John R. and Nell Wilson, Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren include Robin and Gina Wise, Thomasville, Bo and Natalie Wilson, Atlanta, Ga., Robert C. and Tiffany Wilson, Columbus, Ga., Deanne Elaine Wilson, Columbus, Ga., and Stuart Runyon Wilson, Columbus, Ga. He is also survived by his sister Mrs. Kenneth L. Waters, Athens, Ga. and four great grandchildren. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Glen Arven Country Club to celebrate his life.
