Robert Darrell Hortman

Robert Darrell Hortman, 58 passed from this life on October 2, 2013. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Enon Baptist Church. Reverend Alfred Carver will officiate and interment will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Moultrie, Ga. Born July 2, 1955 in Colquitt Co, Ga, he was the youngest son of James C. and Frances Wetherington Hortman. Robert graduated from Pavo School and was a proud member of the 1973 graduating class of Central High School in Thomasville, Ga. There he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America chapter serving as the 1972-1973 President. He earned the American Farmer Star Degree. He continued his education at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Ga in Electrical Engineering. Robert returned home to work on the family farm with his father and brothers. He actively participated in the Young Farmers Chapter of Colquitt County for many years. Robert fondly remembered friends and family birthdays. He is survived by his parents; brothers Ollie Hortman and wife Mona of Hartsfield, Ga; Jay Hortman and wife Bonnie of Coolidge, Ga; sister Amy Smith and husband Jody of Pavo, Ga; nieces and nephews Jamie Hortman, Marcy H. Young, Garret Hortman, Gabrielle Hortman, J. Ben Smith, Georgia Smith and many cousins. He was preceded in death by loving grandparents Oliver Jackson and Exie Virginia Hortman and Collon Leonard and Amy McMillan Wetherington and special cousins Chuck Franklin Delano Wetherington, Jr. and Edd Carley Wetherington.
