Robert Reed Duncan

February 10, 1938 — July 13, 2025

Robert Reed “Woody” Duncan, 87, of Thomasville, GA, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. Born on February 10, 1938, in Chattanooga, TN, Woody was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his creativity, quiet strength, and dry sense of humor.

Woody started his career at Kingsport Press and eventually became President of D.B. Hess, building a long and successful life in the publishing world. But his real passions were outside the office. He was an incredibly talented artist, a lifelong history buff, and a golfer who could still surprise you on the back nine.

He and his beloved late wife, Linda Lou, shared a love for antiques and beauty. Together, they made every house they lived in feel like home - filled with art, stories, and character.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law:
Robin and Bill Kelly, Beth Ann and Jerry Jaskowiak, Ada Jane and Brad Ginsberg, Cristie Duncan, Lisa Duncan Lepri, and Linda McCormick Harrell and Chris Harrell; and his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Gwen Duncan.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren:
Jeremy Bates, Cara Beth (Williams) Allen, Myles Williams, Katelynd Duncan Schaben, Emma Duncan, Jacqueline (Jaskowiak) Gehrke, Courtney (Jaskowiak) Gunderson, Savannah Jaskowiak, and J.D. McCormick.

And his great-grandchildren:
Trent, and Jada Williams, Caleb Gehrke, and Kane Gunderson.

Woody left behind a life full of art, laughter, and love. The many people who loved him will carry that forward.

“The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.” Irving Berlin
