Services for Robert Grady Burgess, Jr. of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Monday, June 14, 2004 at Dawson Street Methodist Church where he was a member. The Rev. Virgil Lee will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Ronnie Hurst, Jim Anderson, Gary Spikes, Darrell Dooley, Ronnie Prance, Mark Homyk, Joe Lane and Dave Young. Honorary pallbearers are the City of Thomasville Retirees and The Thomasville Utilities Employees. Mr. Burgess died June 10 at his residence. Born February 11, 1945 in Thomasville he was the son of the late R. G. and Mae Cooper Burgess. On September 16, 1994 in Thomasville he married Glynda A. Mobley Burgess who survives. He was a United State Army veteran and was a retired Supervisor of the Line Department for the City of Thomasville. Other survivors include son, Robert Grady Trey Burgess, III, of Thomasville, stepson and wife, Dwayne and Zandra Hudson of Pelham, sister and brother-in-law, Emily Burgess Smith and Paul Ray Smith, brother, Alfred Louis Burgess, step-grandchildren, Harley Hudson and Shelley Hudson and several much loved nieces and nephews and 4 loyal pets. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center and Hospice of Southwest Georgia. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Georgia Sheriff Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 100, Hahira, GA 31632. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
