Services for Robert Horton Griffin of Thomasville are 11:00AM on Monday, March 10, 2003 at Dawson Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Bob Hall will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Griffin died March 7, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born October 3, 1923 in Grady Co., Ga., he was the son of the late Wiley R. & Martha Aleta Jones Griffin. On January 10, 1943 he was married to Edna Lynn Edmonds Griffin who survives. Mr. Griffin was a World War II veteran having served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was of the Christian faith and a member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church and Lifeline Ministries, Inc. He was a lay minister, song evangelist, and former Christian Counselor for the Georgia Board of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #369 F & AM where he served as Chaplain. He is a recently retired member of the Thomasville City Planning and Zoning Commission. Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Griffin of Waynesboro, GA., son and daughter-in-law, R. Horton, Jr. and Janet Griffin of Orange Park, Fl.; sister, Ruth G. Murray of Alexandria, LA.; grandchildren, Lynn Griffin Boone and Jim Broone of Orange Park, Fl., Lynda Griffin Dotson and John Dotson of Middleburg, Fl., Robert Hunter Parrish, III and Denise Parrish of Waynesboro, GA., Nancy Parrish of Atlanta, GA., Lydia Griffin Haydu and Matt Haydu of Jacksonville Beach, Fl.; great grandchildren, Devon Blair of Middleburg, Fl., Kaley Lynn Boone of Orange Park, Fl., Dylan Martin of Jacksonville Beach, Fl., Tyler Griffin Boone of Orange Park, Fl.; Larissa Haydu of Jacksonville Beach, Fl., Dalaina Dotson of Middleburg, Fl. numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, four sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be made to Lifeline Ministries Orphanage.
