Robert Terry Moncrief Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Terry Moncrief, Sr., 83, of Thomasville will be Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate and burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of The Grady Burgess Sunday School Class. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Miller, Robert Moncrief, Jimmy Roddenberry, Mark NeSmith, Bob Wells, Ricky Sanders and Sam Ponder. Mr. Moncrief was surrounded by family and friends when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning. Born June 11, 1931 in Grady Co., he was the son of the late Charles Robinson and Mary Lillian Hough Moncrief. On April 13, 1952, he married Marie Griner Moncrief, who survives. Mr. Moncrief was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a faithful member of The Grady Burgess Sunday School Class. He owned and operated Crawford’s Grocery & Market for 47 years. He also served for 8 years in the National Guard. Mr. Moncrief loved his church and his family. Other survivors include a son and daughter in law, Bob and Rhonda Moncrief of Seymour, TN, daughter and son in law, Melinda and Jim Tashie of Thomasville, and grandchildren, Robert T. Moncrief, III, Jonathan Tyler and Kelly Miller, Christina and Steven Clawson and Hannah Marie Tashie. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Jonathan Ryder Miller and Sophia Rose Clawson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Blanche Elliot, Beulah Lee Wells, Virginia Hicks, Jeanette Sanders, Alice Mae NeSmith, a brother Jeff Moncrief and a great grandson, Wesley Hunter Miller.
