Robert Mack Riddle Sr

Services for Robert "Bob" Mack Riddle, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville, Georgia. Mr. Riddle was born July 19, 1926 in Columbia, S.C. to the late Fannie Louise Chandler and the late Franklin Ray Riddle, Sr. During World War II he served in the United States Navy in the Photographic Intelligence Center in Washington D.C. After the war, he returned home and attended the University of South Carolina. Bob graduated with a B.S. in Business and immediately following went to work with the J.C. Penney Company in Hartsville, S.C. June 28, 1952 he married the love of his life, Barbara Jeanne Graham. Together they shared four children and 64 wonderful years of marriage. Throughout his 37 years with J.C. Penney, he and his family moved numerous times throughout the southeast. In 1966 Bob moved to Thomasville as manager of the downtown Penney store. He attended First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was also active in Rotary Club. After retiring, he served as Director of Downtown Thomasville and was on the Board of Directors of Thomas County/Thomasville Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Glen Arven Country Club where he was President of South Georgia Seniors Golf Association. Bob loved his family, his church and his Lord dearly. He always greeted everyone with a smile...His survivors include: his beloved wife, Barbara; his 4 children, Jeanne Thompson (John), Anne Branan (Bud), Robin Shiver (Allen), and Rob Riddle (Melanie); his 11 grandchildren, Morgan Finn (Pat), Mary Kathryn Brandenburg (TJ), Elizabeth Donaldson (Kole), Robert Shiver (Lindsay), Brooke Shiver, Becky Dunham (Chris), Mat Thompson (Stephanie), Waye Thompson, Elizabeth Grace Riddle, Robert Riddle, and William Riddle; 11 great-grandchildren, Chandler Finn, Hudson Brandenburg, Carter Brandenburg, Asher Donaldson, Grayson Shiver, Landon Shiver, Madelyn Murphy, Colt Dunham, McCall Thompson, Myller Thompson, and Bryce Thompson; 2 nieces, Jann Hill and Nancy Dowling; and one nephew, Barron Boyd. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Ray Riddle and his wife, Jane; and sister and brother-in-law, Frances Boyd and her husband, John. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Presbyterian Church Campus Improvement & Renewal Fund, 225 E. Jackson Street, Thomasville, GA 31792.
