Graveside services for Robert Bob Urquit Wise, Jr. will be held on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM on 8th Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Reverend Doctor Milton C. Gardner and Reverend Dan Spencer. Mr. Wise died on Sunday December 12, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born on September 30, 1924 in Live Oak, Florida, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urquit Wise, Sr. On May 12, 1948, he married Anne Alday who survives. He owned Alday True Value hardware store until his retirement in 1976. Mr. Wise served in World War II as a Tank Commander under General Patton. Mr. Wise was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also Chairman of rebuilding the First Baptist Church after a fire destroyed it in 1982. Mr. Wise was a Rotarian and served as President of the Rotary Club.
Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Dr. Robin and Gina Wise, his daughter and son-in-law Leigh and Curt Ross. Grandchildren are Will Wise, John Adam and Shelbey Wise, Jack and Katie Wise, Whitney and Kevin McCranie, Jim and Renee Henderson. Great grandchildren include Tanner Slater, Rudy McCranie, John Carlton Wise, Finn and Maeva Henderson.
Visitation will be at the home of Robin and Gina Wise, 1304 Millpond Rd. on Tuesday December 14, 2010 from 5pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to First Baptist Church of Thomasville or The Parkinson's Association of Greater Daytona Beach, PO Box 4193, Ormand Beach, FL 32175.
