Services for Ronald "Ronnie" Joseph Hurst will be held at Allen & Allen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2pm. A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm, prior to the service. Interment will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Ronnie passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on November 14, 1946, in Thomasville, GA, to the late JW Buck and Lillian Odom Hurst.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Cassels Hurst, and his devoted children Lucretia Noble, Melissa King (Jamie), and Joseph Hurst (Chasity). Ronnie will also be remembered by his grandchildren Charisse Noble, Jaleigh Hurst, and Charleigh Hurst. He is also survived by his siblings Jerrie Dean (Charles), Jeffery Hurst (Cindy), and Rosaland Hurst.
Ronnie was a 1965 graduate of Thomasville High School. He loved to play football and was the first recipient of the "Mad Dog" award. After high school he was drafted into the army and traveled the world. He then moved to Miami, worked in construction, and earned his contractor license. He returned to Thomasville and met the love of his life, Gloria. They married and started their family in Thomasville. They built their dream home on Metcalf Road and raised their three children there.
He loved Jesus, family, and country. He had a passion for helping veterans. He loved the outdoors including working in the yard, fishing, and woodworking. He did everything with excellence and lived life as an adventure, including creating many fun experiences for his children and grandchildren.
Ronnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and veteran who went to be with Jesus March 4, 2024 peacefully from his home.
