Graveside service for Ronald Sellars, 77 of Albany will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Laurel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gary Holland officiating. Mr. Sellars passed way August 30, 2024 at Phoebe Putney. Born June 9, 1947 in Cairo, Ga to the late Ira Samson and Eva Mae Wilson Sellars. On April 7, 1972 he married Martha "Joann" Anderson Sellars who preceded him in death along with his parents, son Guy Edwards Collins; brothers William, Henry, Charles and Buddy; sisters Gladys, Lochia, Mildred, Lennie, Hattie Mae, Annie Bell, Bernice, Gearldean and Marlene. Ronald was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam and earning the following medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal. Along with the Markman, Sharpshooter and CLGnr awards. Mr. Sellars worked many years at Shelby Mobile Homes. After moving to Albany, he worked for the Marine Base as a mechanic. He is survived by his grandchildren Crystal JoAnne Dykes (Brandon) and Timothy Joshua Collins; great grandchildren Noah Prather, Dakota Prather, Carter Hunter, Jacob Collins and Makayla Collins; brother Durwood Sellars (Ruby Dale), sisters Frances Bush and Doris Sexton; sister in law's Sharon Collins and Mildred Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Allen & Allen Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30pm prior to the graveside service.
