Ronald Raymond Shepherd, 78, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away on May 5, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones at home. Ronnie was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Ray and Jerry Shepherd on September 8, 1942. He was a member of the graduating class of 1960 at Central High School. He also attended ABAC and Georgia Southern, playing basketball throughout both high school and college years. Like his father before him, Ronnie served as the manager of Loveridge Plantation in Miccosukee, Florida. Few are fortunate enough to enjoy their hobbies as employment. Ronnie did, working on Loveridge for thirty years. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Treviranus Shepherd, his daughters, Deborah Shepherd Stanfield (Jess) of Macon, Georgia and Stephanie Shepherd Tharpe (Brian) of Perry, Georgia, and his daughter-by-marriage, Delia Large-Hart of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Stanfield Davis, Sydney Stanfield, Emily Stanfield, Barron Tharpe, and Cutter Tharpe, and his brother Daniel Martin Shepherd. Ronnie will be sorely missed by those who loved him. His humor and storytelling were unrivaled, as was his ability to find a covey of quail or a great fishing hole. Instead of a memorial service, Ronnie asked to have his ashes spread at his favorite fishing pond stating, “I have certainly eaten a lot of fish out of that pond and would like to return the favor.” In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society, 1250 Cox Avenue, Bainbridge, GA, 39819.
