Ronald Marcinski was born in Omaha, NE on May 14, 1955, and passed peacefully surrounded by family on January 28, 2017. He was the son of Richard J. Marcinski and Betty S. Marcinski and was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Richard F. Marcinski. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Hay Marcinski, his sons Ronald L. Marcinski Jr (Beth) and James R. “Richie” Marcinski, and his daughter Renee Marcinski. He is also survived by his sisters Cindy Soliday, Barbara Young (Bob), Shirley “Sam” Scholz (Ray), his brother-in-law Mike Weller (Kathy), and numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Ronald was a natural athlete who lettered in several sports in high school. He was the state diving champion during his senior year, but also competed in swimming, wrestling, gymnastics, track and field, and baseball. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1973 and then entered the US Air Force to serve his country during the Vietnam War. It was in the Air Force that he acquired the nickname “Ski,” short for his last name. He spent the next 22 years and 1 month serving across Korea, Germany, the Persian Gulf, and multiple bases in the south-eastern United States. Because of his leadership abilities, he was chosen to take part in 2 Gunsmoke competitions. Having toured during both Desert Shield and Desert Storm, he made the decision to retire from the Air Force in 1995. Ski decided to move with his family to Thomasville, GA, where he spent the next 22 years working for Hay Plumbing. Ski joined Thomasville Masonic Lodge #369. It was there he became a Master Mason, and served as Worshipful Master in 2004, 2008, and 2013. Within the York Rite, he was a member of Royal Arch Masons, the Council of Royal and Select Masters, and the Knights Templar. He was awarded the Knights of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH). He was also a member of HASAN Shriners and served for 2 consecutive years as Past President. Ski was a member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church, and while he served on many boards and committees over the years, he was perhaps the most devoted to serving through running audio and video for services, funerals, weddings, and other functions for over 20 years. He was a member of the Adult Bible Study class, and served as their Treasurer for many years. The family is requesting that memorial contributions be made either to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607(
