Funeral services for Ronald B. Vonier, will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11 am at Salem Baptist Church. Pastor Doug Thompson will officiate and interment will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held the day prior, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 5-7 pm. Known for his unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community, Mr. Ronald passed away on March 24, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1930 to the late Hugh and Lessie Mae Gandy Vonier. After his mother died in 1934, Hugh married Rachael Cone Vonier, who helped raise their four children. On June 10, 1951 he married the late Evelyn Booth Vonier. Ronald was a beloved member of Salem Baptist Church, actively participating as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. In those roles, he enriched the lives of many. A passionate farmer, he was also active in the community as a former member of the Thomas County School Board and FMB Bank Board of Directors.
Survivors include Kim Robinson (Jeff) of Woodstock, GA, Kathy Horton (Jeffrey) of Wetumpka, AL, Jill Herndon (Mark) of Pavo, GA, and Nathan Vonier (Connie) of Valdosta, GA. Grandchildren include Joshua Ingle (Hannah), Burt Horton (Laura), Jane Carter (Brent), Ashlee James (Colby), Bart Herndon (Kelly), Erin Logue (David), Kelsey Shackelford (Harlen), Sadee Scarborough, and Russ Vonier (Lauren). Great grandchildren include Tripp, Evelyn, Hamilton, Holland, Neya, Kinley, Bohen, Mallory, Caroline, and James. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lauren Herndon.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank his many caregivers for their love and devotion during the past several months. The family would also like to recognize All Ways Caring HomeCare and Regency SouthernCare Hospice and express appreciation for their kindness and services.
