In Loving Memory of Rubye Fulghum King

Rubye Fulghum King, age 95, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on September 3, 1930, Rubye was the daughter of Marvin W. Fulghum Sr. and Lillie Hall Fulghum. She graduated from Thomasville High School before beginning her working career.

Known to nearly everyone as "Meemaw," Rubye's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rubye loved to travel and faithfully saved up to take her family on trips and making wonderful memories. She was also a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs-and may have been their biggest fan! Holidays and family get-togethers were some of her most joyous times. Her stories and funny things she would say would fill a room with smiles and laughter.

Above all, Rubye was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and others. Whether babysitting a grandchild, accompanying someone on a road trip, offering a warm hug, or sharing an encouraging word, she was always there when she was needed.

Her life was not defined by extraordinary fame or fortune, but by the extraordinary way she loved her family and friends.

Rubye is survived by her children, Debra Tryan (Al) and Bill King (Sarah); her grandchildren, Trey Tryan (Brooke), Chris King (Dana), Holley Murphy (Rhette), and Mary Catherine Tryan; her beloved great-grandchildren, Lilly, Hayes, Avery, Owen, Brody, and Mattison; her lifelong best friend, Barbara Walker; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lillie Belle Huddleston, and her brother, Marvin W. Fulghum Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Thomasville First Church of the Nazarene.

Though she will be deeply missed, we take great comfort in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that says "...to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." To love and to be loved by Meemaw was one of life's greatest blessings.
