Memorial services for Russell Griner Guy of Thomasville are Monday, May 9, 2005 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Larry Nunnally will officiate. Mr. Guy died May 6 after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. Born August 20, 1951 at Archbold Memorial Hospital he was the son of Betty Griner Guy and the late John Brewster Guy. After graduation from Thomasville High School he attended Georgia Southwestern College and served in the Marine Corp Reserve at Parris Island. He and his brother then worked with the Alaska Pipe Line. Throughout his life he enjoyed long term friendships. He was a lover of nature and fishing. He was an excellent tennis player and fisherman. He worked 20 years in the State Capitol in the State Auditing department in Juneau. After his retirement he worked in construction in North Carolina and Georgia. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He had two children, Jesse Russell Guy and Wylie Mueller Guy of Juneau, Alaska. Other survivors include twin brother and sister-in-law, Ernest Lacy and Barbara Guy of Franklin, N.C., sister Grace Elizabeth Guy of Pavo, GA, brother and sister-in-law, John B., Jr. and Jane Guy of Thomasville.
