Ruth Stringer Hicks Yeager

Graveside services for Ruth Stringer Hicks Yeager, 93, of Thomasville, are 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007 at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richey, FL, with the Rev. John Hicks officiating. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Metcalfe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tegler Greer officiating. Mrs. Yeager died October 16, 2007 at Golden Living Center. Born January 23, 1914 in Metcalfe, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Eugene Stringer and Eunice Orelia Strickland Stringer. She was married to William Henry Hicks and Ernest Yeager, who both preceded her in death. She was the lunchroom manager for Gulf High School and also drove a school bus. She was a member of Metcalfe United Methodist Church and past member of Hicks Road Baptist Church in New Port Richey and was the organist there. She was also a member of the Archbold Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and crocheted baby caps for the maternity ward. Survivors include son & daughter-in-law William H. & Emily Hicks, JR, of Fernandina Beach, FL, daughter, Joan Hicks Holmes, of Thomasville, son, Ernest Fitzhugh Hicks, of New Port Richey, FL, sister, Evelyn Townsend, of Bell, FL, sisters-in-law, Mary Stringer and Betty Stringer both of Thomasville, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. A son, Carl Eugene Hicks, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Metcalfe United Methodist Church, 2650 Stringer Rd, Thomasville Ga 31792.
