Graveside services for S. Alvin Mitchell, of Thomasville, were at 4:00 pm on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Tennessee Street, with the Rev. Mike Hearrell and Rev. Ramon Hernandez officiating. Mr. Mitchell died February 1, 2007 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 7, 1925 in Early, Co, he was the son of the late Lucius L. & Janie Sammons Mitchell. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a district manager for Quantum Chemical, Petrolane Gas and also worked for Scoggins Dozer. His wife Kathryn Ann Brown Mitchell preceded him in death. On January 18, 2007, he married Vera Godwin Mitchell, who survives. Other survivors include daughters Kaye Scoggins, of Pine Park, GA., Janet Mitchell of Dunwoody, GA., sons, Al Mitchell, and Victor Mitchell, both of Thomasville, stepdaughter and husband, Lady Ann Cox and Don Cox of DeRider, LA; sisters Joyce Stone, of Statesboro, GA., Nadine Oldham, of Macon, GA., brother, Louie Mitchell and Russell Mitchell, both of Macon and 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lavon and Dorcas Pearce of Grady Co., GA, Frankie Lee and Sherry Pearce, Vivian and John Stanaland and Vernice and Wilburn Hagan all of Thomasville. Brothers Tip Mitchell and Bill Mitchell precede him in death. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Inc., P.O.
