Samuel Daniel S.D. Luke
A celebration of the life of S.D. Luke will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 2:00pm at the chapel of Allen and Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Mack Luke Presiding. Mr. Luke was a member of one of the pioneer families of Thomas County GA. He was the son of Daniel Elder and Mary Annie Stanaland Luke. He was married in1948 to Vivian Suber Luke who preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage. He served our country as an United States Marine and was chosen to represent the Marine Corp on the Armed Forces float in the Rose Parade. He was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was the executive Vice-President of Jones Foods and after he retired he became a farmer. His farm gave him great peace and pleasure. He was a humble and gentle man who lived his life in the light of the Lord. His family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by his only child Pam Steve Barronton, his two grandchildren Abby Chris Evans and Cameron Tristian Barronton, and one great grandchild Sebastian Daniel Barronton. Other survivors include siblings Juanita Carnline, James Luke, Pastor Mack Nanette Luke, Julia Jim Wyrick, Laverne Gay, and Betty Joiner. He is also survived by his Aunt Ophelia Alligod, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special friend Monies Whiddon. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jessie Luke, Raymond Luke, and Alpha Lougenia Barron. The family will receive friends Monday September 2, 2013 from 5-7pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
