Sandra Allen Mccammon

August 24, 1942 — January 13, 2022

Sandra Allen McCammon, 79, of Thomasville Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The funeral services will be held at Allen and Allen Chapel in Thomasville Georgia on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Officiating ministers will be Roy Little, Glen Scoggin III, and Lester Allen. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick, Georgia. She was born August 24, 1942 to the late Curtis and Beatrice Allen of Barwick. She really loved her music and had a special gift of playing the piano. She could tickle those ivories and make the piano talk. Her most requested song was "Down Yonder." She grew up playing the piano at a very young age and learned how to play many instruments. Her ear for music was very amazing. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Dixie Georgia, where she was the pianist for many years. She loved her music and was a member of many instrumental and singing groups. She was also Inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. In her spare time, she really enjoyed her artwork and shared it with her family. She attended Barwick School and graduated from Brooks County High School. She was a Registered Nurse at both Archbold Memorial and Southwestern State Hospital. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Scoggin (Glen), son, Scott McCammon (Pat); grandchildren include Jennifer Taylor, Christy Layfield (Scott), Dustin Scoggin (Sarah), Amanda Merritt (Austin), Christopher Reese, Chastity Lane (Levi); Great-grandchildren include Kiley & Remy Taylor, Addison, Tucker, and Clara Layfield, Avery and Zane Scoggin, Braxton, Joslynn, and Bonnie Merritt, Annabelle Reese, Karsen and McKenna Wood, and Kaiden Lane; and several nieces and nephews. Brother, Lester Allen (Helen); sisters, Florene Butler, Corene Bland, Joyce Freeman, Janice Martin; sister-in-law Judy Allen. Preceded in death by her son, Bobby Dee McCammon; her parents Curtis and Beatrice Allen; and her brother, Perry Allen. Pallbearers include Curt Bland, Keith Allen, Christopher Reese, Tim Freeman, Jesse Martin and Mark Allen. Honorary Pallbearers include Dustin Scoggin, Scott Layfield. Rest assured she is in the arms of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was dearly loved and cherished and will be missed by so many.
