Sandra Kay Phillips

Sandra Kay (Cline) Phillips, 78, passed away May 20, 2015, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care Nursing Home in Thomasville. She was born on September 15, 1936, in Culver, Indiana, to the late Milton Roth and Mary Catherine (Tracy) Cline and had lived in Thomasville for 38 years.
Ms. Phillips was a childhood member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver, IN, and a 1954 graduate of Culver Community High School. In 1957, she graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, IN, as a three-year diploma nurse. She retired in 1990, after 33 years of nursing in Jamaica, Indiana, Florida and Georgia. In Thomasville, she worked at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital, as well as serving as Director of Nursing at both Hospitality Care Center and Glenn-Mor Nursing Home.
She was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and historic preservation.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (Phillips) Hancock of Thomasville; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kristine Phillips of Suwanee, and three grandchildren: Virginia Hancock of Thomasville, Davis Hancock of Yulee, FL; and Mary Katharine Phillips of Suwanee; as well as several cousins. She was preceded in death by an older brother, Stanley Milton Cline. The family would like to thank Camellia Gardens for the excellent care they provided our beloved mother and grandmother the last two months of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 24, at Morningside United Methodist Church, 2207 Smith Avenue, Thomasville, with the Rev. Allen Hartsfield officiating. A graveside service and burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in Culver, IN, next week, under the direction of Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lakeshore Drive, Culver, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ms. Phillips’ church, Morningside United Methodist, Thomasville, in her name.
