Sara Adel Davis

Sara Adel Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away on September 29, 2026, in Thomasville, Georgia, at the age of 85. Born on August 7, 1941, in Valdosta, Georgia, Sara lived a life rich in faith, family, and service. She and her husband, Joe Davis Sr., moved to Thomasville in 1972, where they dedicated their lives to their church, First Baptist, and raised their two children, Joe and Sara Martha. Sara's passion for community service shone through her many endeavors. She was actively involved with the church's Sunday School and served in the Women's Missionary Union. A well-regarded caterer, she ran her successful business for over 22 years. She loved being able to help make the celebrations of others special. Sara continued her commitment to community beautification by participating in various projects and serving on the local and state Keep America Beautiful boards. She also volunteered with the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce and was a proud member of local and state garden clubs.

Notably, she was part of the team that planted the first Bradford pear trees on Broad Street and served as a Pink Lady at the hospital. Sara held esteemed positions in the Thomasville Women's Club and the Carousel Garden Club and made significant contributions at local, district, and state levels.

In 1997, Sara moved to Horseshoe Plantation, where she found joy in managing the main house and grounds until her retirement in 2017. After that, she settled in Coolidge and became active at Coolidge Baptist Church, continuing her dedication to Sunday School and the kitchen. She made every family get together special adding her unique touch.

Sara's legacy includes six beloved grandchildren—three girls and three boys and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Joe Davis, Sr and their beloved Maltese, Alana.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11 am on Tennessee Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5- 7 p.m. at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
