Sara Tryan

Sara Miller Tryan passed peacefully on August 17, 2022 at the age of 98 after a long and full life.

Born in White Springs, Florida on March 2, 1924 Sara was the daughter of the late Edgar Vernon and Sallie Maud Miller. She was married to Albert Frank Tryan on January 18, 1944 who preceded her in death. Sara and Albert met in Sanford, FL while he was serving in the US Navy.
They had four children together, Gale (Charlie) Copeland of Thomasville, Judith Tryan who preceded her in death, Twila Tryan of Atlanta and Al (Debra) Tryan of Thomasville.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Jeff Copeland of San Antonio, TX, Jonathan (Michelle) Copeland of Temple, GA, Trey (Brooke) Tryan of Canton, GA and Mary Catherine (Dan) Haymons of Thomasville.

Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew Copeland of San Antonio, TX, Avery and Owen Tryan of Canton, GA and Brody Ballenger and Mattison Haymons of Thomasville.

Sara is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mildred Anderson and Evelyn Bracewell of Thomasville and Doris Cassidy of Marietta, GA. She was preceded in death by five sisters who all resided in FL, Annie Giles, Hazel Thomas, Catherine Duncan, Harriet Ivey and Sally Bentley.

Sara’s life was characterized by her caring and giving spirit. She loved sending greeting cards and bestowing gifts on her friends and family. She was an outstanding cook and dedicated homemaker who found time to volunteer with the Pink Ladies organization at Archbold Memorial Hospital and the Girl Scouts. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville where she enjoyed worshipping and attending Sunday School with her many treasured friends.

Sara lived at Southern Pines Senior Living Facility since 2010 where she taught exercise classes and was an avid Canasta player.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomasville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2790 Thomasville, Ga 31799. Please designate donations for missions offering, a cause near and dear to Sara’s heart.
