Sarah Lily Hjort

Funeral services for Sarah Lily Hjort, 84, formerly of Thomasville, are10: 30 am, Thursday, April 26, 2007, in the Chapel at First United Methodist Church, with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hjort passed away from natural causes Sunday, April 22, 2007, at her residence in Perry, Ga. Born July 6, 1922 in Thomas Co; she was the daughter of the late Samuel C. & Nell P. Hjort. She was a resident of Thomasville for most of her life before retiring and moving to Albany and then to Perry. Sarah graduated from Stetson University with a degree in music, which she used as a teacher for several years following graduation. She returned to Thomasville to join the family nursery business where she worked for most of fifty years before retiring in 1994. Survivors include three brothers, Samuel Conrad Hjort, Jr., of Sequim, WA, Peter W. Hjort, and A. Paul Hjort, both of Thomasville. Among her many nieces and nephews are Anne Hjort Lanier, of Perry, Ga., and Peter W. Hjort, Jr., of Rome, Ga., whom she cared for and nurtured during their grammar and high school years. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 at the church.
