Visitation for Shelby Davis Dement of Thomasville, GA will be Monday, January 10, 2011 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, MS. Mr. Dement died January 8, 2011 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was born April 7, 1921 in Meridian, MS. Mr. Dement was married to Virginia Hester Dement who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving four years during WWII in England, and was a retired Vice President of Delta Airlines. Mr. Dement was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville, GA. Other survivors include daughters and sons-in law, Marilyn Dement Garey and Bruce of Albany, GA, Gail Dement Sifford and Lindy of Wilmington, NC, Susan Dement Torres and Tom of Peachtree City, GA, son and daughter-in law, Rev. Charles L. Culpepper and Katherine of Jackson, MS, and daughter and son-in law Ellen Culpepper Sprowls and Alan of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Kenneth Bruce Garey, Shelley Raymond, Amy Strauss, Ben Strauss and Heather, Nicole Lee Bruce and James, Andy Culpepper, Peter Sprowls and John Sprowls, great grandchildren Challis Garey, Carlin Garey, Noah, Corissa Raymond, Rushton Crocker, Shelby Crocker, Emma Strauss, Seth Strauss. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Newman Dement, and a granddaughter, Laura Lee Garey. In lieu
