Funeral services for Shirley Adams Mathews, 71, of Thomasville are at 11:00 AM, Saturday November 26, 2011 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mack Luke will officiate. Mrs. Mathews died on November 23, 2011 in Thomasville. Born September 21, 1940 in Wilcox County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Julius James and Minnie Dorough Adams. She was retired from Southwestern State Hospital where she worked as a program assistant in Environmental Services. Mrs. Mathews was a member of New Growth Baptist Church. She was married on October 8, 1981 in Thomasville to Jimmy Franklin Mathews, who survives. Other survivors include a son and daughter in law, Frankie and Becky Mathews of Thomasville and daughter, Carol Ragan and her finance, Burt Reagin of Thomasville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Angie and Kyle Reichert, Aaron and Melissa Web, Morgan Mathews, Frank Ragan, Austin Mathews, Jesse Ragan, Olivia Mathews; great grandchildren, Emma Reichert and Jaxson Webb and sisters, Joann Denmark and Sandra Adams. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the New Growth Baptist Church Building Fund, 3890 County Line Road, Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends before the service on Saturday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM.
