"Snooks" Marion Gay

November 25, 1937 — September 24, 2015

Services for Marion H. “Snooks” Gay, 77 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Eastside Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Robson and Rev. Mike Hanscom will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr Gay passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015. Born November 25, 1937 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Lacy C. Gay and Effie Hobbs Gay. On August 7, 1959 he married Frances Miller Gay who survives. Snooks was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Thomasville as cemetery supervisor of Laurel Hill Cemetery after 37 ½ years of service, and then worked at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He enjoyed fishing and family get togethers. He is survived by son, Marion Steve Gay and wife Laura of Byron, Georgia; daughter, Teresa Barclay and husband Bill of Cairo; grandchildren, William Trey Barclay, Caitlin Park, Brett Barclay and wife Kelly and Caleb Gay; great-grandchild, Jacob Park; sister, Vonziel Bryant and husband Charles of Panama City, Florida; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Gay of Ashland, Kentucky, Maxine McMillan of Lakeland, Florida and Linda Gay of Thomasville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant son; brothers, Owen Gay, Melton Gay, Roscoe Gay and Lacy Gay. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
